LIVING IN ONE’S BUBBLE IS DESTRUCTIVE
By Domenick J. Maglio PhD. Traditional Realist

Too many people have realized in our politically correct world, it is easier to burrow into a hole rather than come out and confront our divisive nation. We are constantly warned by the media experts that voicing your own political viewpoint or cultural preferences in social gatherings, even in front of one’s family might cause arguments and hostilities that could end the relationship. This has resulted in many people turning to like-minded others on the anonymous Internet. This pattern of seeking out only people who have our own values and perceptions is very dangerous for the wellbeing of the individual and the nation.

This shunning of different ideas leads to group think propaganda, divisiveness and retards one’s thinking acuity. This has been the case for too many years. The progressive establishment media has had a monopoly on the mass media for over a half century.

When a person is constantly reinforced with one message it is easy to accept it with no discomfort.  A well reasoned counter way of viewing the issue could trigger new understanding and doubt about the previously believed idea. The more nonsense statements that are repeated without discussion and questioning, the greater the chance it will be adopted as a “cultural truth or fact.”

Anyone who dissents from a majority opinion would be seen as a social outcast or deviant. As the minority counter culture approaches the traditional one, instability surfaces dividing the country into polar opposite realities. This not only motivates people to choose sides to be accepted by a group but shuts out opposing ideas that might stimulate an individual’s analytical powers to make better choices in the future.

Group Think creates a form of stability at the cost of balance and personal growth. The political elites dictate the acceptable values and ways of thinking. Slogans and sanctioned behaviors are stressed to conform to encourage the current cultural direction. The anti conformist traditionalists are ridiculed and prosecuted for protesting the present politically correct mandates.

Instead of a small oligarchy group determining the direction of the country, the USA has historically promoted the culture to be shaped from the bottom, up not the top down. The Bill of Rights has insured the people’s right to free speech including free press and the right to assembly. This translates into saying whatever you believe can be said to anyone without being punished by the law or public opinion.

Political correctness is a totalitarian technique to shut down open thoughts and speech. It has been used by repressive communist nations and throughout history by conquerors and kings to control their subjects. It is the opposite of the wishes of the founders of our nation. It is the opposite of encouraging self reliant, independent thinking individuals who have propelled our nation to greatness.

To keep the United States the leader of the free world, citizens need to get out of their Facebook, Internet games, selfie bubbles and become more involved with the real world around them. They should learn from actual interaction around them not from phony narratives people create about themselves to appear what they want to be not who they actually are. The real consequences of individual actions and their judgment by others teaches those who happen to be around them the good and bad results of going down certain paths. Being “non judgmental is an integral element of political correctness.

This same open-eyed assessment of cultural and political directives and actions are essential in keeping our leaders from straying from the path of righteousness. Without the people voicing their opinions, elites will subtly create a gradually introduced self-censorship for the people. This self-censorship will enhance and maintain power for them.

The people’s voice frightens the establishment about the possibility of losing their power. This wakes them up curbing their appetite of domination by making them realize they are not perpetual American kings or dictators: the ruling class. Without the safeguards of aware citizens protesting their antics we will become slaves to an all controlling and brutal existence. Our liberty would end.

It behooves each of us to do our duty and to come out of our comfort zone regardless of the aggravation and annoyance it causes us. Americans have too much to lose to selfishly withdraw from significant political debates.

Living in one’s bubble does nothing to educate the person to maintain the nation as a free constitutional republic.
