BECOMING A TRUST FUND BABY COULD BE A CURSE

BECOMING A TRUST FUND BABY COULD BE A CURSE

By Domenick J. Maglio PhD. Traditional Realist

People who learned to be hard workers and to live within their means frequently saved a large nest egg. When they passed away, they may have chosen to establish a trust fund naming another person to receive a large sum of money often with some stipulations written into the trust as to when it would be received and its use.

American citizens born before WWII and the baby boomers born after usually stuck their nose to the grindstone and some saved a significant amount of wealth. These hardworking people wanted to give it to their loved ones so they would not have to work as hard as they did. The result is we are starting to meet a significant number of “trust fund babies.” They are young adults who possess plenty of money in their bank accounts often without doing anything to earn it. Too many times these individuals do not appreciate what they were given.  Most people think how lucky these people were to inherit this bonanza, which often is not the case.

Some of them find that too much of a good thing can quickly turn into a cursed nightmare. A person who is given money but never learned how to value it is like a lottery winner who suddenly has millions in the bank. The sudden wealth greatly uplifts their lifestyle usually without any thought of how to use it to benefit their future. Spending money that a person has not earned is easy and addicting. As we say: easy come, easy go. The trust fund individual’s most difficult task is selecting how they spend or save the money.

Frequently the money dwindles until it is gone. This day of reckoning is not contemplated so when it arrives the person has to decide to work for someone else, start a new business, sell possessions, beg for more family money or turn to self-pity. Too often the money becomes a curse rather than an asset.

At this point in their personal history, trust funders cannot be proud of what they accomplished especially if they wasted their entire inheritance. They purchased useless items they thought appealing at the time without thinking about their future when the inheritance could be gone.

In this scenario the person who received the inheritance is not the culprit but the person who gave it. The recipient did not get the important lessons learned in accumulating this money that would have been the real gift. Knowledge, perseverance, and the hard work it takes to be successful should have been passed on to loved ones.

The person who accumulated enough wealth to establish a trust fund climbed up the ladder of success in their careers which taught them an incredible number of business and people skills.

Many advantages came from voluntarily taking on more responsibility which offered them more opportunities. They developed managerial skills and abilities to apply for even higher positions in other companies or start their own businesses.

A person who has been given everything and not clawed his way to the top of the ladder of success has been deprived of opportunities to sharpen skills and improve their perseverance. There are plenty of opportunities to begin at an entry level job then work up to attaining a professional position. The better one learns and performs one’s duties, the more they are appreciated as a high functioning employee.

The explanation and illustration of how the successful person overcame their obstacles by their determination and persevered is more important and lasting than handing a sum of money that may be short lived. Every one of us needs inspiration and guidance from people who care about us.

The individual providing this learning and wisdom deserves our utmost respect. They did more than provide a trust fund.  The caring and loving person shares his life story to assist and guide another to also become winners by maximizing their talents in a competitive world.

A times all of us lose our focus and enthusiasm for our chosen career. It is an uplifting experience when our mentor reminds us of the accomplishments we have made in our career. The mentor’s words of wisdom bring back a more positive spirit for the person’s view of their career.

In our modern instant gratification world, too many people give up under the slightest difficulties. This happens too often in our relationships especially in today’s marriages and often in one’s employment. Perseverance is a necessary virtue to create a positive, stable existence.

Having a successful person in our life that we respect is an incredible asset. This is a much more valuable gift than a stack of money that quickly passes through one’s hands into oblivion.

EQUITY IS A LUDICROUS COMMUNIST CONCEPT

EQUITY IS A LUDICROUS COMMUNIST CONCEPT

By Domenick J. Maglio PhD. Traditional Realist

Equity is everyone having the same outcome regardless of what they do. This would mean a person who did not care for their garden and just dropped seeds should receive the same quality of vegetables as a gardener who worked hard enriching the earth, removing the weeds and irrigating the plants. This would never happen since it is not the way reality unfolds.

Another way to illustrate this would be a person who did not study the required material fails every test but receives the same grade as a person who concentrated and learned it all. This equity concept is absurd and should not deserve consideration as a logical, viable way of doing anything that would be successful. It might sound great to some but is a recipe for failure.

Yet, in the United States there are supposed scholars arguing for equity to produce a utopian world. According to them, if everyone is treated equally regardless of earning it, many would be content. The person given the rewards probably would be highly pleased for a while until their standard of living drops. They would eventually become disillusioned for the quality of life would be lessened.

On the other hand, the person who applied himself to earn the recognition and higher status would be annoyed and would lower his commitment to his work and studies. This is the reason the communist ideology of equity is initially attractive to dreamers and “slackers” who want something for nothing but fails in the long run as everyone will eventually lower their level of quality and production.

China is one of the latest national political systems to use this equity concept. How has that worked out for the citizens? Lies and more lies, promises and more promises are constantly repeated to propagandize the populace. When the comrades respond by protests or violence the police and even the military are used to quell the unrest by force. The uprising in Tiananmen Square and the recent riots in Beijing were beaten down by police and soldiers with overwhelming force. The television reporting of this exchange between the people and Chinese forces was brutally graphic.

The Chinese government increases fear by random killings, putting the Uyghurs in re-education camps and sentencing hundreds of thousands to prison terms. This has temporarily silenced these uprisings but the calm relies on the underlying use of brutality, and intimidation to control their people.

It is currently reported that over 140 million people in China are suffering from malnutrition due to lack of food. This is happening while Premier Xi Jinping is attempting to persuade the world that China is the new world leader replacing the United States. This is stated while China is teetering on financial disaster. However, this largest totalitarian nation in the world is held together by fear of government retaliation. Interestingly the majority of the world’s media is not contradicting the appraisal of China’s economic stability and political power whose obvious issues are staring them in the face.

The equity route to motivate people is contrary to human nature. There will always in any society be people who take advantage of others. In college communes in the 1960s some students provided the food and labor to feed the group while the grubbers did nothing. The communes never caught on and disappeared as quickly as they were introduced as it was unfair to the few who contributed more than others.

Freedom of choice and merit have shown to be more productive and realistic methods of organizing and rewarding people to do their best in an endeavor. Parents use privileges and material items to motivate their children. When their children do not do well in school, they lose some freedoms and special activities. They gain them back when their grades improve. When employees do a good job they receive promotions, increases in salary, and greater possibilities of advancement. Everyone in a capitalistic culture is supposed to be rewarded for what they contribute to the family, school, business, and community.

Equity sounds great to the unmotivated, lazy, short-cutting slackers. It is a terrific method for unmotivated people to develop into takers not givers. Rewarding a person for reaching a difficult high level of achievement is a positive motivator. It sets standards towards a higher level increasing the quality of the group and nation as a whole.

The communist concept of equity must be stopped in the United States of America as it would rob us of our freedom and competitive edge in the world of nations.

ISOLATING A CHILD FROM OTHER CHILDREN IS ABUSIVE

By Domenick J. Maglio PhD. Traditional Realist

There are an extraordinary number of today’s children who are single children in the family. Since the great depression there has not been so many families with only one child. Today as many as 22% of families have only one child. One thing for sure, a child is less likely to have many siblings as families had in the past.

This phenomenon is greatly compounded by the realistic appraisal that letting the child play outside or in a park and even in upper income housing developments is not safe for fear of those who prey on children. Many of today’s children are not interacting with other children on a regular basis.

The fear factor leaves many parents afraid of even letting their children socialize with families in their community. This unfortunately isolates many children from interacting with their peers unsupervised. Instead, the parents choose supervised groups like karate, baseball, music, swimming, classes to allow their child to be with other children. These instructors supervise and attempt to teach a specific skill set. However, the children are not in control of their interaction with the other children.  Children have little freedom to learn how to act with peers without adult interference.

Peer to peer interactional instruction is often more direct and harsher. Children will tell each other the right way to behave. “Boys do not cry when they lose.”  “That is not how to catch a ball.” When the admonishment or recommendation comes from respected peers it has greater power than from any adult to change a child’s behavior.

Children know when a young person is “cool” and in charge. There are natural role models selected by the children themselves not by the adults. When children decide they want to belong to a group they watch the leaders to imitate them to win their approval. The group has the power to choose who to accept or reject. The group is not subtle or diplomatic but direct in their verdict. Either the person shapes up or is denied entry in the groups.

It may be brutal to the individual’s self-concept but is effective in altering inappropriate behavior in a particular group. You are out or in. There is little wiggle room to plead one’s case.

Straight talk from an admired group of peers can quickly change a child’s behavior. When a child is rejected by a group, often they reevaluate their actions and radically change their attitude and behavior to be accepted by the group.

By not allowing a child to learn from other children is a form of abuse that has to end. Parents should not only allow their child to seek out appropriate peers but should promote peer interaction. Instead of micromanaging the child’s every move, the parents need to give the child freedom to interact with other children while observing from a distance. A child needs unsupervised interaction with other children to grow into a healthy person. There is no substitute for children interacting naturally with appropriate peers. Not to arrange these interactions is a dangerous practice for the healthy development of children.

A child needs other children to emulate. Youngsters are sometimes serious, others thoughtful or funny.  There are infinite personality types of children and allows every child to choose what they want to become. Testing out these personality types enriches their personality potential.

When young children were isolated from each other as during the covid epidemic it became obvious that children missed the interaction with other children. They greeted each other with gusto as adults do with old friends when they were allowed to get together again. These significant relationships shape the future of the youngsters that create the adult they will become.

The reality is that parents who isolate their children from other children to prevent hassle are being shortsighted. They can keep the child close to them shielding them from any conflicts and issues. However, easier is not always better. The disagreements children have with each other may be emotionally difficult to deal with at that moment, yet these interactions will teach them how to interact with others.

These are difficult but necessary lessons that will shape the direction of a child’s future. Parents need to understand children grow up quickly. When they are in junior or senior high school they are on their way to college or the workforce. In either case they are making decisions for their own future. Most normally rely on themselves to make these lifelong choices.

For parents to think they can control their child’s choices when they reach adulthood is unrealistic. When parents do not enable their child to sharpen their decision-making abilities by learning from their peers, this is more than short sighted, it is abusive.

WHY ARE THE CHINESE POLICE STATIONS STILL IN THE USA?

WHY ARE THE CHINESE POLICE STATIONS STILL IN THE USA?

By Domenick J. Maglio PhD. Traditional Realist

Over a year ago we became aware of the presence of the Chinese Police Stations through news reports. The American ChangLe Association in New York City was found to house the Fuzhou Chinese Police Overseas Service Station. It claims to be a nonprofit group, however the IRS revoked the group’s status.  Its main purpose supposedly was to track down illegal transactions and activities of Chinese who have been critical of Premier Xi Jinping and his administration.

The Chinese government denies running these stations although many countries have reported through, local and national police investigations that these stations are policing Chinese nationals. Numerous immigrants have been monitored, blackmailed, and harassed for being critical of China’s administration. The main purpose seems to be to track down dissenters and send them back to China. Many Chinese expatriates have left China to escape its policies, draining the nation’s manpower and its best and brightest. China sees this diaspora as a critical problem and is attempting to prevent it by policing in other sovereign nations.

These police stations are on five continents with at least one hundred and ten identified police stations. This has been done without these nation’s public notice or approval. China downplays these police stations as centers for Chinese immigrants to be assisted in getting passports and access for driver’s licenses and helping their transition into another nation. These practices were already functions of the Chinese embassy.

China adamantly denies they are attempting to track, intimidate, and force Chinese to return to China for crimes against the state and putting fear into the hearts of any person that is contemplating escaping from Chinese control. Furthermore, they state, the United States should stop making groundless accusations against China to create false issues to profile China as a totalitarian state. Yet, the behavior of China continues to demonstrate a total disregard for other nation’s legal systems.

FBI director, Christopher Wray, has stated: “The United States is deeply concerned with the Chinese government’s setting up unauthorized police stations in the US cities to possibly pursue influence operations: the report said the stations were an extension of Beijing’s effort to pressure some Chinese nationals or their relatives abroad to return to China to face criminal charges.”

The Human Rights NGO, Safeguard Defenders, has documented numerous incidents of Chinese nationals in other countries being abused, intimidated, and threatened if they did not want to leave. This Chinese policy is a method to prevent “diaspora,” the large scale leaving of one’s country for another one, in this case by the Chinese people.  The knowledge that the Chinese who have left China are still under immense scrutiny by Chinese agents in most of the advanced nations throughout the world is a deterrent to leaving China.

Safeguard Defenders have stated from April 2021 to July 2022 Chinese have been tracked down by CCP agents and have intimidated and persuaded 230,000 expatriates to return to China. This stunning reality is that the United States and other nations have not stood up to China and demanded that these Chinese Police Stations be vacated immediately. Instead, Chinese overseas police stations are still operating as if they have the right to do so on another nation’s soil.

The establishment of separate police operations in a sovereign nation makes a mockery of the laws and power of that nation to rule its citizens. This is not happening just in the United States but in many other nations. Has China gained significant power over the nations of the world to dictate their policies to other nations? Is China now in a positive position to demand other countries accept and follow their lead even in those supposedly independent nation states?

It is a frightening proposition that no national government has publicly addressed this international overreach by the Xi Jinping government. Is it that China has such enormous economic, military, and political power over nations that allows them to disregard the sovereignty of that nation? In other words, is China the ultimate leader of a one-world government?

Are Chinese Police Stations throughout the world, with their own laws being accepted by all nations as only a temporary phase of international relationships? If it is an acknowledgement that China has the right to dictate and establish a separate and legal system above other nations, then China has supreme power over any other nation that accepts the Chinese Police Stations on their soil.

American politicians: do your job and rule on China’s violations of our national sovereignty and rid them of their ability to exist in foreign countries. To remain silent on this affront to the United States, is to admit Chinese power over American law and dominance.

American citizens need to demand our leaders respond to this absurd and offensive behavior by Premier Xi before it is too late. China needs to understand they must remove their Police Service Stations immediately from the United States to preserve our nation’s autonomy.

SOCIAL JUSTICE IS INHERENTLY UNFAIR

 SOCIAL JUSTICE IS INHERENTLY UNFAIR

By Domenick J. Maglio PhD. Traditional Realist

Social justice is the attempt to provide an equal outcomes and thus a just society. Every individual should have the right to equal wealth, health, privilege, and opportunity. Race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, education, mental and physical disabilities, racial and criminal justice are areas where prejudices are often claimed. These areas of political of social injustice have expanded into topics of climate change, voting rights, income gaps, guns, and into others which have not yet been identified.

Social injustices are as infinite as citizen’s complaints about living. “I would have obtained a higher lifestyle if it was not for my shortness, lack of higher education, my obesity, my sex, race, ethnicity, poverty, drug abuse, religion, or criminal behavior. People experience unfortunate events as disease, people that detest them for no rational reason. Prejudice, jealousy, and envy are some of the negatives of human nature which cannot be prevented by government mandates. Life is full of unexplained and unfair events.

Communism is constantly seizing on the unfairness of life to sell its utopian dreams.

There have been many communist nations that have attempted to establish utopian societies. Not only did they fail but led to totalitarian governments. These societies created greater socio-economic inequities between the citizens and official elites in power.

Unfairness in a society is inevitable. The Frankfort School of communist intellectuals have employed a strategy of stirring up national dissatisfaction by pointing out differences in economic and social levels. Currently “social injustice” is the catch phrase to pit one group against another to undermine the stability of the nation.

In order to accomplish this goal of eliminating an established government there has to be a blocking of freedom of speech that would stimulate thinking. Ignorance of the people strengthens the “woke communist propaganda.” Anyone who rebels the woke agenda has to be silenced or made to disappear by cancelling them. Another tool “Gaslighting” is often used to undermine an insightful idea or persons to protect the woke agenda

People born with physical and mental difficulties according to the woke culture should be seen as victims of social injustice. In this woke, communist world everyone should have equal rights to health, wealth, privileges and be equal to anyone else.  There cannot be discussions of inspired people making positive choices and becoming successful. Overcoming one’s natural liabilities must be hidden not celebrated.

The woke communist cultures throughout the world have not been successful in replacing social inequities with social equality. They never will be able to do this as it is not caused by government policies but by the hand that God deals each one of us. Only a powerful, ruthless government can take from the rich and powerful to give to the unfortunate and powerless. This cradle to grave world intervention in housing for the poor, cosmetic surgery for aging elites and the defective, increase the intelligence for the dull, reeducation for racists or criminals, and many more government programs to attempt to equalize differences in all citizens. Government programs cannot help those who will not help themselves.

God has given us freedom of choice. Each person has individual choice in eating, sleeping, exercising, studying, helping others or not. We can steal, lie, kill, destroy property, rape and demean others in many ways but we are taught by our moral values that these behaviors lead self-destruction.  We are taught to govern ourselves, not be slaves of the government. Free nations create more citizens that are more self-regulated.

No totalitarian government or powerful dictator, scientist or other person can or should attempt to play God. All humans have free will. At times in our lives, we are lifted up by helpful others when we stumble, and we help others when they need encouragement, but social justice is inherently unfair.

The government attempting to create what they consider social justice must take from some citizens and supposedly give to the less fortunate. This process done by bureaucrats is often flawed by human error or worse by purposeful fraud through lie after lie.

Relying on government to give you success, is just another communist fantasy that has never succeeded. Increasing freedom of choice in the nation places the decisions in the hands of each individual not in the hands of the elites and their bureaucrats who often do not know or care about the individual.

The best formula to increase social justice is in nations that encourage freedom. Their citizens are allowed to make their own decisions. Any illegal or socially harmful behaviors must be appropriately punished to maintain the freedom of its citizens. A just society is based on truth not the fraudulent social justice lies.
